3 August 2006 Mr Marthinus van Schalkwyk, Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism of the Republic of South Africa visited the World Heritage Sites in Kyoto. He held official meetings with Mr Kitagawa, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Ms Y Koike, Minister of the Environment, and Mr S Shiozaki, Senior Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs. He also met with Mr Koji Shinmachi, Chairperson of Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), Mr Saburo Kawabuchi, President of the Japan Football Association, and representatives from JETRO and JICA. A media briefing on tourism and preparation for hosting the 2010 Soccer World Cup was held at the Japan Press Club. |
